His Words

Just some lyrics off John Mayer's new album that I really really appreciate (I'm one of those music listeners who place great value on song lyrics:P) :
We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for
What puts a hundred thousand children in the sand?
Belief can.
Belief can.
What puts the folded flag inside his mother's hands?
Belief can.
Belief can.
- "Belief" - John Mayer
You know, it's nothing new
Bad news, never had good timing
But then, the circle of your friends
Will defend the silver lining
Pain throws you heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No it won't all go the way it should
But I know the heart of life is good
I know it's good.
- "The Heart Of Life" - John Mayer
Don't know how else to say it
I don't want to see my parents go
One generation's length away
From fighting life out on my own
So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young....
- "Stop This Train" - John Mayer
It's not a silly little moment
It's not the storm before the calm
This is the deep and dying breath
Of this love that we've been working on
My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room...
- "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" - John Mayer
Now I'm gonna dress myself for two,
Once for me and once for someone new
I'm gonna do some things you wouldn't let me do
I'm gonna find another you
- "I'm Gonna Find Another You" - John Mayer
They're great to read, but better to listen to....:)

Turn The Lights Down...

I. Love. This. Album.
Being no musical expert, I will not try to dissect each song on the album and say how bluesy Track 6 sounds or how great the guitar riffs on Track 8 are, but what I can say (or write :P) about this album is this...
...the feeling I get when listening to this album is like, you just want to turn down the lights and start slow dancing in the room...
...the songs are subtle, soulful, well-written and thoughtful... all sung in John's understated, dreamy vocals...
I'm a fan for life, can't you tell by now?;)

The Moment

My mind is still on "High School Musical".

There is a scene that I cannot forget, and it leaves me feeling slightly melancholy.

At almost the end of the movie, the 2 lead characters, Troy & Gabriella were supposed to sing in front of practically the whole school for their high school musical audition.

As the opening bars of the piano starts, Gabriella freezes.

She turns to Troy, and says "I can't do this, Troy, not with all the these people staring at me."

And he grabs her hand before she leaves the stage and says quietly, "Hey hey hey, look at me...right at me, right at me. Like the first time we sang together, remember?

And then they sing...:)

Ok so I know that scene has been done before in a thousand different ways in other Disney movies:P but I still love it...it's something that I wish for really.

That you can look at me and know at a glance my insecurities, and know just what to say to make it all all right.

But life is not like a High School Musical is it?

The Musical Bug

On the eve of my 24th birthday, I realize some things never change :P
Despite the predictablity of this show (and despite my 'past-the-teeny-bopper-stage age:P),
I'm still SMITTEN.

And I can bet you that if I was just a few years younger, I would be having the biggest crush on Zac Efron (who plays the lead Troy on the show) right now...

Well, yeah, to be completely honest, there IS a teeny weeny part of me that wishes that I was this brunette meeting my Prince Charming for the first time and singing about how this might be the "Start of Something New"...
